Frequently Asked Questions

Bait boat profile

Each swim has its own unhooking mat and weigh bar.

Q: Is the lake weedy or snaggy? Does it have gravel patches - marginal reeds?

A: There are no weed-beds. The majority of the lake bottom is ‘silty’, incorporating some hard patches. There are marginal reeds. The lake benefits from a natural regeneration of water.

Q: I am about to put in an order for tackle for my forthcoming trip to your lake, is there anything you suggest I get, such as must have terminal tackle?

A: No, there is nothing specific I would recommend especially at this time, but it is always worth giving me a call a week or so before your trip, just so I can keep you updated on how the fish are feeding.

Q: Is the lake a classic estate lake?

A: Yes it is. The lake is over 280 years old, and has a feeder stream, which provides fresh water regeneration.

A: No!

Q: I have never been fishing in Normandy before. On previous trips to France I have driven from Calais, is it far from there?

A: There are numerous options available when you plan your travelling arrangements for your forthcoming trip. From Calais the lake is approximately 3 hours 40 minutes driving time. Depending on where you live (uk) you are able to choose between several different ferry ports, with some options leaving a driving time, in France, of only 2 hours to reach the lake.

Q: Are ‘drive and survive’ anglers able to use the cooking facilities in the lodge?

A: Yes of course!  You have use of the lodge, which includes - a cooker with oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, hot and cold water, and electricity.  You can choose to eat inside the lodge or outside under shelter.  We have bait boat charging facilities located to the side of the lodge, where there is also a freezer for your baits.

Q: Do I need to purchase a Fishing license?  Can I night fish?

A: No, you do not need a Fishing license, and yes you can night fish.  We are a private enclosed lake, and such restrictions do not apply in this area.

Q: I would like to order bait from you to collect when I arrive at the lake. It will be a lot easier than bringing it with me! How much notice do you need?

A:

We are currently advising guests to pre-order their bait when making their booking. This is due to the high volume of bait supplied during previous years. We feel it is in our guest's interest to reserve their bait, to ensure their request is met in full. We do however, stock high volumes of bait, so you can always purchase extra at the lake, if you require more than you had originally ordered.  We currently advise notice of about 2 months.
